Consider this when installing any free application. Adobe Reader will hose you just like this, as well as java. Just about all of them pull these types of shenanigans. Multiply it by the five or ten commonly used freebies and you’ve got yourself a BIG performance problem. Just a simple toolbar in your Internet Explorer from Ask? will take FIVE SECONDS off of your life each time IE loads! Talk about return on investment for simply reading through the installer prompts to know what you’re getting!

The bundled add-ins here are pretty innocuous – the same program has also been known to bundle ‘HotSpot Shield” – a ‘Privacy’ enhancer. What it really does is forwards ALL web traffic through the third party. Who knows what they do with that data? No Thanks!
